Danielle Felder is currently a student at The University of Colorado Law School and completed her undergraduate degree at The University of Denver. She is class president of The CU Law School and also secretary of The Black Law Student Association. Danielle recently volunteered for Referendum I, the initiative to increase diversity awareness of same-sex couples through outreach and education efforts.

Katy O’Brien currently attends The University of Colorado Law School. She completed her undergraduate degree at Princeton. While attending Princeton she played second team all-Ivy League Women’s basketball and was on the league championships team in 2006. In the spring of 2009 she was a volunteer tutor at Arapahoe High School, and is currently a Member of the Environmental Law Society and Women’s Law Caucus.

Andrea (Wee Yeong) Ahn’s missionary parents raised her in Korea, Paraguay and Suriname until the age of nine when she left her family to seek an education in the United States. She is currently a student at The University of Denver Sturm College of Law, and completed her undergraduate degree at George Washington University. A recipient of the Robert B. Yegge Memorial Scholarship, Andrea is also involved in the Colorado Bar Association, Colorado Mountain Club, and was United States Lacrosse member and player for the Atlantic region as well as Colorado.

Gale Monahan is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs and now attends The University of Colorado Law School. He has been active in the community working in the Staff Judge Advocate’s office (JAG) for the Colorado National Guard since August 2008. He has also served as both an Air Force and Army officer in Arizona, Colorado and Iraq; and is currently training for the 2010 CrossFit Games.

Leanna Ajour Young is attending The University of Denver Sturm College of Law and holds her undergraduate degree from the University of Denver. Proficient in Spanish, Leanna is a member of the Whitehouse Project, a Pioneer Partner, and works with Catholic Charities Childcare.

Messner recently represented Coors Distributing Company (CDC), a division of MillerCoors LLC, and Rocky Mountain Coors Distributing Company (RMC) of Colorado Springs, in connection with the purchase of malt-beverage distribution rights, inventory, equipment and other assets from Western Distributing Company. The transaction grants CDC and RMC certain distribution rights in the Colorado Front Range.

After 77 years in business, family-owned and operated Western Distributing announced last November it was closing its beverage distribution operations.

CDC’s portfolio of brands and representation of suppliers more than doubled to 27 suppliers and 400 brands as a result of the transaction. Exclusive brand distribution rights of CDC include premiere suppliers MillerCoors, Heineken USA, Pabst Brewing Company, Boston Beer Co., Crown Imports, New Belgium Brewing Company, Breckenridge Brewery and others.

RMC added Heineken USA, Warsteiner Importers, Asahi USA, and Sapporo USA brands to its portfolio.

Mr. Merrill, a member of the Corporate Practice Group who heads the firm's Tax and Private Client Services practice, was selected by survey of Denver area high-net-worth residents as well as a panel of financial services industry peers, based on his outstanding performance and client satisfaction.

FIVE STAR: Best in Client Satisfaction Wealth Managers (SM) Announced

Denver, CO (September 4, 2009) - In the September issues of 5280 magazine and ColoradoBiz magazine, the 2009 FIVE STAR: Best in Client Satisfaction Wealth Managers (SM) are announced. 5280 magazine and ColoradoBiz magazine formed a partnership with Crescendo Business Services, an independent research firm, to identify the "best in client satisfaction" wealth managers serving the Denver area. In January, Crescendo surveyed, by mail and phone 74,000 high-net-worth residents in the Denver area and subscribers of 5280 magazine and ColoradoBiz magazine. An additional 5,200 surveys were sent to leaders of financial service industry companies.

On the surveys, recipients were asked to select only wealth managers whom they knew through personal experience, and to evaluate them based upon nine criteria: customer service, integrity, knowledge/expertise, communication, value for fee charged, meeting of financial objectives, post-sale-service, quality of recommendations and overall satisfaction.

By February, stacks of surveys had arrived and Crescendo began carefully scoring each wealth manager. Both positive and negative evaluations were included in the scoring. Only wealth managers with five years of experience in the financial services industry were considered.

Next, each wealth manager was reviewed for regulatory actions, civil judicial actions and customer complaints as reported by FINRA (the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) and other regulatory agencies.

Then, before finalizing the list, wealth managers were reviewed by a blue-ribbon panel. The blue-ribbon panel was comprised of knowledgeable individuals from within the financial services industry. Although panelist comments were incorporated into the final score, safeguards were built into the review process to reduce the ability of panel members to influence the composition of the final list on the basis of company affiliation.

The resulting list of 2009 FIVE STAR Wealth Managers represents those wealth managers in the Denver area, that scored highest in client satisfaction. These wealth managers represent less than 7 percent of the wealth managers in the Denver area. We hope this list serves as a referral network for the 441,000 readers of 5280 magazine and ColoradoBiz magazine. Is this list exhaustive? Of course not. There are undoubtedly many other excellent wealth managers who, for one reason or another, are not on this year's list.

In connection with its 14th Anniversary Celebration, Messner & Reeves announced that two of its lawyers have become equity partners at the firm effective April 1, 2009. Suzanne Sorich Goodspeed and David A. Reeves now join founder Bryant S. "Corky" Messner, John Shunk, and Bruce Montoya as owners of the firm.

Messner and Reeves Attorneys Win Multi-Million Dollar Verdict

On April 16, 2009, after an 8-day trial, an Arapahoe County jury awarded our client North American National Marketing LLC (NANM) a multi-million dollar verdict in a breach of contract lawsuit against General American Life Insurance Company (GenAm), a subsidiary of MetLife.
