Summer Associates
Messner & Reeves prides itself on its non-bureaucratic, entrepreneurial work environment. We strongly feel our summer associate program reflects this unique atmosphere. Our summer program runs from the third or fourth week of May through the second or third week of August and provides law students with an opportunity to experience a realistic view of associate life at Messner & Reeves.
Unlike many other firms, we give our summer associates real legal work for real clients. Whenever practicable, we provide our summer associates with the opportunity to attend client meetings, closings, negotiations, depositions, trials, and courtroom hearings. Additionally, we ask our summer associates to draft research memoranda, litigation pleadings, motions, briefs, and a broad array of transactional documents.
Summer associates are also introduced to life at Messner & Reeves through cultural, recreational, and social events. These functions are designed to afford summer associates the opportunity to build long lasting relationships with our attorneys. Summer associates have attended Colorado Rockies games, bowling parties, the Denver Polo Classic, practice group lunches, and other events.
We keep our summer associate classes small in order to provide focused and personal attention, practical training, varied assignments, extensive feedback, and hands-on experience with real client matters. The goal is to give summer associates a straightforward look at the firm, our people, our culture, and our clients, and to see if it’s a good fit for both Messner & Reeves and the summer associate.
